A certified Magitek engineer with a penchant for guns, Allag machinery, and Garlean weaponry. Known for her immaculate work and precision, there remains a shrouded veil of mystery to her. Often seen as cold or distance, she keeps others at arms length, but makes for a powerful ally and is recognized in the underground and black market business as an assassin for fire. No stranger to imperial doctrine, she uses this to her advantage when out in the field.It is rumored that her quaint and flowery alchemy boutique is a front for something else as she offers safe refuge for fellow exiles like herself. Her own true motives, however, remain unseen.

The elezen does not speak much of her past, though she has traveled as far as Thavnair and has lived there for some time. This may attribute to her skills as an alchemist and engineer who wishes to advance her studies in Allagan research. What is known pertains to her affinity with magitek armaments and prostheses. She remains very secretive about her history and the intricate details of her work.She owns and manages at an alchemist shop in the Mist called the Apothecarium. Here, she conducts perfecting her creations and inventions when time permits. When not buried in her books and toolboxes, she enjoys recreational activities such as tactical marksmanship (MCH) and the beautiful art of Hannish sword-dancing (NIN/RDM) to help hone her precision, speed, and accuracy, if only to play tribute to her deadly prowess with a gunblade - a staple weapon of her nation’s empire. (If times get rough or money is low, she will stoop to her preferred method of financial stability: monetized bounty hunting.)Life has not been kind to her. After discovering the truth of her birth and her father's machination, she fell along a downward spiral of stress and trauma wherein afterward she was confined to isolation for several months. Her progress and temperament has been improving over time, yet Junius, her father and master medicus, felt she would not do well among peers and work associates.After a while, she found herself living in more stable conditions, however, she had gotten overly defensive and placed no trust in those nearest to her. Strangers were met with her cold, calculating gaze, an all too often visage even among her friends and family leaving many to believe she had completely shut down her social aptitude, but within reason.Some time later, she found herself in the company of another Elezen who had taken a keen interest in the engineer despite her distancing. They embarked on a long and arduous journey together, only to realize their dependency for each other. Jay'ani married Dakenon Bastilion, stating the man had saved her life from her own degradation. Together, they work and live in a more quiet and happier space, such freedoms permitting the occasional smile from the Gunbreaker.

Designed for War

Due to events beyond her control, her social conditioning has left her outside the scope of normal behavior. She is a mathematical genius who is very passionate about her work and studies, thus leaving very few opportunities for her to connect with others on a more friendly level. She is otherwise very quiet and often content with her solitude. Those who seek to change her are often met with her 'stress' - a fight-or-flight response which never bodes well for either parties.The horrid experimentation done during childhood has mentally scarred her for life, leaving her an autistic savant on the higher functioning spectrum, yet still incapable of expressing any normalcy. The unorthodox training and preparation to combat her stresses only gives her a slight advantage, however, she is also forced to used medication to keep the lesser demons at bay. Those who say her life seems relatively easy has not witnessed the true nature of her father's dangerous work.Those seeking to befriend her should exercise extreme patience with her, and keep their enthusiasm at a minimum. They should also avoid breaking her from whatever current fixation she has, lest she willingly agrees to part from it.On most accounts, those nearest to her are well aware of her condition and often see her as stern and stoic, and very rarely does she show emotion.

Those who knew Jay'ani prior to her transition would reflect on a lithe, androgynous male who was often found wearing binding corsets, dresses, and skirts. Since becoming female with the assistance of Allag tech and augmentation, not much as changed in terms of looks save for the more refined physical attributes, and she typically dresses the same, albeit finds herself able to fill out her clothing with a more appropriate figure.She has soft umber skin with a light and often unseen layer of freckles. Her platinum hair fades off into a blonde tone with golden tints. Aside from two beauty marks, she has the emblem of the Garlean empire tattooed at the base of her neck. Along the entirety of her spine is a very intricate web of surgical scars that is mostly faded. (Rarely is her bare back shown and almost always covered, especially in the company of others.)
